Summer
Flowers in the garden shimmer with rain,
Opening up at dawn's early light.
Birds begin to chirp back and forth,
Singing the notes to a song that bears no name.
The air is cool, crisp, and sweet.
The breeze making the grass sway and ruffling my hair.
I climb up a tree in my backyard,
Settling myself down on a branch, book clutched in hand.
Soon the sun starts to set, streaking the sky orange and pink.
Fireflies to creep out,
Dancing and flying about.
Glowing and lighting up the dark.
Stars twinkle while the moon wanes in the black velvet sky.
The campfire crackles and snaps merrily,
As my family roasts marshmallows and ea
Blooming
Roses are blooming
At dusk on a summer's night,
Petals opening.
Mushrooms
Mushrooms, oh, mushrooms,
Are like little umbrellas,
In many colors.
Rain
The rain has come down.
Pitter and pattering down.
With soft, soothing sounds.
Flickering
A flame burns brightly,
An orange glow in the dark.
A fire-lit night.
Riding The Wind
A leaf on a tree,
Oh, fluttering in the wind,
'Bout to blow away.
Stalking
He goes into his crouch,
Head down low and tail up high.
His tail swishes back and forth,
Back and forth.
His eyes are wide and curious
As he cocks his head to one side.
His ears are up and pointed,
Straining to catch the sound.
He leans back,
Ready to jump.
He mews and then...
He pounces!
With one final swipe,
He finishes it off,
Picking it up,
He bounds away with his prize.
His prize?
A mouse!
For he is a cat,
And cats eat mice.
